A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Vet (minimum of 4 years in practice) to join a friendly and ‘family feel’ team in Glasgow.
This client is a long established, independent, small animal practice, who have a genuine care for not just their clients, but their staff too - ensuring a healthy work/life balance is very important to this practice!
The current team consists of 3.5 Vets, 4 RVNs, 2 ACAs and 2 Receptionists. They're a very close-knit team who work seamlessly together with strong work ethic! They’re simply recruiting due to expansion and growth within the business.
They looking to recruit an experienced vet on a permanent basis, ideally to work 2-3 days per week (but can be flexible and offer more days for the right candidate, if preferred):
The full-time hours are on average 39.5 hours / week (part time hours can be arranged to suit) -
Monday -Friday: 9am to 6:30pm (of which one half day a week from 1:30pm)
Saturdays: 9am -1pm (1:4 with RVN and receptionist or ACA)
No OOH's or on-call work
* Closed during most Public Holidays (with a day off in lieu if working)
* 28 days annual holiday in addition to 10 Public Holidays (pro rata for part time hours)

- Choose the CPD courses that suit you and when it suits you, and they will tweak the rota to facilitate this

- Further afield there is the London Vet Show
- Or if you prefer on-line courses sometimes too in the comfort of your own home
- Dr. Chris Parratt who provides a referral Cardiology with Echocardiography, Abdominal Ultrasonography and Endoscopy at his nearby clinic offers CPD
- Pharmaceutical companies will do ‘Lunch and Learn ‘ topics in house at the practice which vary widely from skin treatments to osteoarthritis pain relief to gastrointestinal disease to ecto and endoparasiticides (the lunches vary too but the most popular requests are still pizza and vegan wraps!)
Clinical freedom for treatment options:
- Being an independent RCVS PSS Accredited practice means that you get to make your choices for best treatment options that are appropriate for the diagnosis and you are not restricted to a limited range of medicines (within reason).
- They are an up-to-date practice with high quality protocols so work with them to get good results for both patients and owners!
Modern up to date equipment :
- Dedicated Imaging room with Digital X-ray facilities and with sliding table for ease of positioning patients (room equipped with an anaesthetic machine) and Ultrasound machine
- Dental suite with separate dental X-ray machine ; IM3 dental drill and descaler (room equipped with an anaesthetic machine)
- Two separate sterile operating theatres with common prep room
- In house blood analysers : Haematology/ Biochemistry and electrolytes / Specific pancreatic lipase / Total thyroxine T4
- ECG machine
- Blood pressure machine
- A choice of modern premedicants and induction agents for anaesthesia
- Qualified nurses to assist and monitor perioperative general anaesthesia / pulse oximeters
- External laboratory services : Idexx labs and Glasgow University Diagnostic Services Lab
- Referral centres we use for example for: the Oncology/ Neurology / Orthopaedics / Specialist soft tissue surgery is Vets Now Referrals / Glasgow University Veterinary School / Broadleys’ Veterinary Hospital / Crumpets Vet Clinical Support.
