Purpose Built Hospital in Somerset Seeks Vet Surgeon

We are looking for a Vet Surgeon with 2+ years veterinary experience to join this purpose-built hospital starting as soon as possible. Candidates must be comfortable with routine operations and consultations.

The practice is an independently owner, busy, first opinion hospital. They have certificate holders in small animal medicine, ophthalmology and surgery. This means cases can be worked to a high standard. They run their own out of hours and have nurses onsite overnight who care for inpatients and manage the phones, with a Vet on-call if needed. This is shared equally, meaning there is a 1 in 7 on-call rota with TOIL. This starts at 6pm until 9am the following morning. The shift pattern starts on a Friday night at 6 pm and includes a Saturday morning 4 hour consulting block. The on call nights run from Friday night to the following Thursday night. The on call vet then is off until 9 am Monday morning when they re-join the day shift team.

There is also a 1 in 7 weekend rota. This includes working 9am – 1pm covering consultations and then on-call until 6pm on the Saturday and 8am until 6pm Sunday.
A normal working week is 4 days per week, 9am until 7pm covering 15 minute consultations. There are 2 Vets operating all day, you will have at least 1 day per week with the option of an additional half day.
