Location: Based in Berkshire with additional branch coverage
Contract: Permanent, 4 days per week

About the Role:
My client are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive small animal practice in Berkshire. You will work across the main hospital site and local branch surgeries, delivering high-quality medical and surgical care in line with RCVS standards.
This role offers a varied caseload, opportunities to develop your clinical interests, and the chance to work within a collaborative team that values professionalism, excellent client care and strong communication.

Key Responsibilities
• Consult, diagnose, and medically treat small animals
• Perform a range of surgical procedures including neutering and general surgery
• Participate in the emergency and out-of-hours rota (no overnight on-call)
• Maintain accurate clinical records and update clients on treatment progress and lab results
• Demonstrate consistent professional standards in attendance, punctuality and presentation
• Adhere to health & safety policies and practice protocols
• Promote relevant services such as nurse clinics, preventative care, and special offers
• Provide guidance, support and supervision to nursing and support staff
• Maintain commercial awareness—provide clear estimates and manage client expectations
• Build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and the wider community
• Assist with general client enquiries and support other team members when required
• Undertake CPD in line with RCVS guidelines
• Complete additional duties at the request of the Practice Principal or Practice Manager

Working Hours & Rota
• Start time: 8:30am (or 8:00am on operating days)
• Finish time: between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, depending on rota
• No overnight on-call
• Once per week: on-call until 9pm (1pm start on these days)
• 4 days per week, with one full day off each week (unless following a duty weekend)
• 1 full weekend in 5, including Saturday & Sunday morning consults and on-call until 5pm
• Monday and Friday off in the week following a duty weekend

Essential Skills & Experience
• MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Post-qualification experience in small animal practice
• Occasional large animal experience beneficial
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good IT literacy
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
• Client-focused with strong customer care skills
• Able to remain calm under pressure
• Self-motivated, confident working independently
• Positive, enthusiastic and a strong team player
• Full driving licence (own car required; must be insured for business use)
• Must live within an agreed commuting distance of the practice
