A well-established, multi-branch veterinary practice in Lancashire is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and supportive team. • Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 pro rata, depending on experience
• Hours: Full or part-time (40 hours per week FTE)
• 1 in 8 weekends on-call and one weeknight on-call every two weeks.

The practice provides high-quality, first-opinion care across several sites, including a main hospital and satellite branches. It is well-equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, an in-house laboratory, multiparameter monitoring, and dedicated dental and bereavement suites. Separate feline and canine wards support a stress-free patient environment.

The team includes certificate holders in areas such as medicine, dentistry, and ECC, with additional visiting specialists in ultrasonography and cardiology. The nursing team also boasts multiple certificate holders and works closely with universities and training bodies as part of their commitment to education and mentorship.

The full-time rota is based on a 40-hour week with 1 in 8 weekends on-call and one weeknight on-call every two weeks. Flexible and part-time working patterns are welcomed. On-call duties are supported by a dedicated overnight RVN team (including ECC certificate holders), minimising disruption and improving patient care. Following on-call shifts, generous time off is provided, including:
• Monday/Tuesday off after a weekend on call
• Friday off after a Saturday on call
• The following day off after a weekday on call

An on-site private flat is available for overnight stays, and the rota runs on an 8-week cycle to support forward planning. Telephone answering services ensure vets are not taking calls directly, and CCTV allows remote monitoring of inpatients. If you are a recent graduate you will receive additional support for OOH shifts.
