About This Role
Are you a Vet Surgeon with good all-round experience? This might be the role for you!
• Salary up to £65,000 (commensurate with experience) • Full-time, fixed hours week to week. • Weekend rota of 1 in 6. • Saturday hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday hours from 10:30am to 4:00pm. • No OOHs!
Located in Somerset, this growing small animal practice is led by an experienced veterinary surgeon and supported by a dedicated team of five vets, including certificate holders in medicine and feline medicine, as well as a vet currently working towards a surgical certificate. The clinical team also includes six Registered Veterinary Nurses and two Student Veterinary Nurses—some of whom began their careers in reception and completed their training within the practice.
Support staff include a team of knowledgeable receptionists and a dedicated Business Manager. The practice has strong ties to the local community and values team wellbeing, with two team members trained in mental health first aid. The culture is close-knit and supportive, with an emphasis on stability and professional growth.
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Veterinary Surgeon with good all-round experience in consultations and routine surgery. With an established and highly skilled team already in place, the practice is open to applicants at various stages of their veterinary careers, provided they have some prior experience in small animal general practice.
Rotas are structured around team preferences to promote a healthy work-life balance, with fixed hours week to week. The weekend rota is light—just 1 in 6—with Saturday hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday hours from 10:30am to 4:00pm. The practice runs 15-minute consults and ensures regular admin time and clinical meetings are built into the schedule to support efficient workflows and ongoing team communication.
In addition to a fulfilling role in a well-located and supportive environment, the successful candidate can expect: • 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata) • Paid professional memberships (RCVS, BSAVA, BVA) • Dedicated CPD allowance, with support for certificate study • Life assurance at 4x annual salary • Contributory pension scheme • Private health insurance • Cycle to work scheme • Colleague reward hub with exclusive discounts • Free onsite parking
Based in Somerset, the practice benefits from excellent local amenities, quality schools, and great transport links via the M5. The area also offers easy access to stunning countryside, coastal towns, and nearby airports in Bristol and Exeter.
