Following feedback from BSAVA members, volunteers, and exhibitors, the next British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress exhibition will take place in a new four-day format, from the 5th-8th April 2018 at the Birmingham ICC Barclaycard Arena.

On the first three days of the conference, delegates will be able to view the latest products and services that are on offer within the industry, including some of the most modern and innovative technology. The final day will be solely focused on continuing professional development (CPD). The hope is that the CPD-centred Sunday will offer unmissable opportunities for career expansion and education through a collection of informative talks and interactive sessions from the exhibitors.

The Congress Programme Committee is hard at work arranging a series of over 450 lectures from world-renowned speakers for the BSAVA Congress 2018 and will announce the programme later this summer. Angharad Belcher, Head of Congress, stated that “over the last six decades, Congress and the BSAVA as a whole have continually evolved and innovated, always aiming to improve the delegate experience. Our intensive feedback and research consultation highlighted this opportunity to introduce a new format for 2018, and we look forward to sharing this with vets and veterinary nurses later on this year.” The BSAVA Congress remains the largest small animal conference in the world and, with a distinguished history that stretches back over sixty years, is an essential date for the diary for anyone interested in the latest advancements within the veterinary industry.

Whilst the programme for the 2018 Congress is yet to be announced, the 2017 conference brought influential experts together, which opened up discussions around the integration of technology and veterinary practice. Talks centred on the opportunities and potential difficulties encountered when incorporating the latest technology into veterinary practice as we know it and the ways in which we can ensure that animal safety and ethics remain the priorities. The conference offers an excellent opportunity to unveil new products, launch new businesses and discuss the latest systems with experts in the industry.
